MYRTLE BEACH GOLF ADVENTURE
April 19-26, 2008

In celebration of our 10th Anniversary season, the Ottawa Out Golfing Group will be kicking things off in fine style with a golf adventure to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, from April 19-26, 2008. Myrtle Beach is a year-round golfing paradise. Just talk to those who have visited before and you will see why avid golfers return time and time again.

Our golf adventure will have us staying at the luxurious Legends Resort Condos, only a 10-minute drive to the heart of Myrtle Beach, and playing golf at the following courses (dates and courses subject to change):

Sunday, April 20 Wicked Stick Golf Links
Monday, April 21 Woodland Valley Country Club (formerly known as Diamond Back Golf Club)
Tuesday, April 22 Prestick Country Club
Thursday, April 24 Myrtlewood Golf Club - Palmetto Course
Friday, April 25 Myrtlewood Golf Club - Pine Hills Course

Your Myrtle Beach Golf Adventure is estimated to cost US$682 per golfer (quad occupancy) and includes (price subject to change based on the date/time you register and the number of golfers who register):

- 7 nights luxury accommodations at the Legends Resort Condos (2 bedrooms (2 double beds per room), 2 bathrooms, fully-equipped kitchen, plus much more)
- 5 rounds of golf (at above-named courses) including power cart
- Daily buffet breakfast (if you do not want breakfast, simply deduct US$49 per golfer from the above cost)
- All surcharges and taxes
- An unforgettable time!

Your Myrtle Beach golf adventure does not include:

- Transportation to/from Myrtle Beach. Each participant is responsible to arrange their own transportation to/from Myrtle Beach. Please confirm with the coordinator your arrival and departure times to/from Myrtle Beach so that arrangements can be made to pick you up and drop you off at the Myrtle Beach International Airport (if you are travelling to/from Myrtle Beach by air).
- Transportation while in Myrtle Beach. Effort is being made to coordinate vehicle rentals (dependent on the number of golfers requiring transportation while in Myrtle Beach). If you will need transportation while in Myrtle Beach, please contact the coordinator at rmeagher@istar.ca or 613.237.0200.
- Meals. Daily breakfast buffets are included in the cost quoted above. The villa includes a fully-equipped kitchen should you choose to make any of your own meals.

To reserve your spot on this unforgettable trip to golf paradise, please confirm your participation by Saturday, March 29, by contacting the coordinator at rmeagher@istar.ca or 613.237.0200. You will also need to pay for your package, in full, by March 29.

NOVICE GOLF CAMPS
Saturdays, May 17, 24 and 31, 2008

Based on the success of the novice golf lessons last year, we will be offering the lessons again this season. See details below. Please register by May 10, by contacting the coordinator at rmeagher@istar.ca or 613.237.0200.

Dates: Saturdays, May 17, 24, and 31, 2008
Times: 12'noon - 1pm each day
Location: Anderson Links Golf and Country Club

The goal of the lessons will be to help you achieve a relaxed golf swing that results in making solid contact with the ball and that results in the ball going in the direction you want it to go.

Golf can be an infinitely complex game. From your grip, to your swing, to your stance, to the position of the ball in your stance, to whether the ball is above your feet, below your feet, on a downhill lie, or an uphill lie, to whether you're in the sand or in the ruff…there can be 100's of things to think about, and that's before you even get on the putting green! The lessons will attempt to simplify the game and focus on three fundamentals:

1. Solid ball contact
2. Balanced swing
3. Set up and alignment

Lesson #1 (May 17) will focus on fundamentals 1 and 2, making solid ball contact with a balanced swing.

Lesson #2 (May 24) will focus on fundamental 3, set up and alignment—resulting in being able to aim the ball in the direction you want it to go.

Lesson #3 (May 31) will be spent on the putting green. We will use all three fundamentals to learn how to make better putts. When you consider half the game of golf is played on the putting green, it makes sense to spend one session on this critical aspect of your game.

Your instructor will be the Ottawa Out Golfing Group Coordinator. While he is not a certified golf pro or instructor, he has been playing the game of golf for 40+ years and has taught golf to many beginners before (with success).

So as to set expectations; first, you will not be ready for the PGA or LPGA tour after the above three lessons. Second, you may not have a 'perfect' swing after only three lessons; Tiger Woods and Annika Sorenstam have spent their lives perfecting their swings. Lastly, after the three lessons, don't expect that the ball will go perfectly straight on every shot. Slices, hooks, fades and draws are often a regular part of the game (whether intentional or, in most cases, not!).

When you finish the lessons mentioned above, you may want to continue taking lessons. If so, it is suggested you continue your journey toward golf supremacy with a certified golf professional (there are numerous options available in the National Capital Region).

There are no instructional costs for the lessons. You will need to cover the cost of your golf balls for the driving range. For lessons 1 (May 17) and 2 (May 24), you can expect to use two large buckets of balls, each costing approximately $5. So, lessons 1 and 2 will cost you about $10 each…a bargain by any standard. For lesson 3 (May 31), all you need to bring is a few golf balls.

Finally, the above assumes you have your own golf clubs. If you do not, please let the instructor/coordinator know so that arrangements may be made to have golf clubs for your lessons.
